Well now - welcome! I'm Kate, a teacher in the Philadelphia Public School District. I'm attempting to have an open forum on race and race relations here. I hope to broaden the horizons of those who already understand the TRUE function of "race" in the United States and the world, enlighten those who still labor under misconceptions about race, and, in spite of how very difficult it might be, I hope to change the mindset of just one racist. Whew - what a task I have before me.



I will recommend and discuss various books, articles, and internet postings, and accept suggestions on same from others.



This IS an open post, but be warned that I do NOT tolerate name-calling. It's not that I don't call names (I have and do), and it's not that I'm a prude (I can have an attack of truck-driver mouth from time to time) - it's simply that name-calling is NOT conducive to logical, sound, reasoned, reasonable debate. If you want to call names, go to an AOL chat - you'll have plenty of company there.



Speaking of AOL, I had a blog there that I am planning to close; I can't cut and paste to/from it, and that makes editing very difficult. If I had advised you of my blog there, well, you'll get a redirect to here!
